I agree with literally everything you've said in this piece. BUT- I do want to point out that here in the U.S., black folks have a long history of being attacked by dogs or having dogs sicked on them as a result of improper training. I've literally had people tell me "Yeah so.. my dog doesn't like black people." to try and antagonize and intimidate me. Come to find out, dogs most certainly can pick up on physical features and categorize people based on said features. If an owner consistently expresses hostility towards people of a certain phenotype, the dog will pick up on that. I know this wasn't even the main point of your article but I couldn't resist being a nerd for a second.
