It's also quite strange of you to assume that all black people, even back then, would be on the 'same page'. From the beginning, Africans that were brought here typically shared a home continent and nothing else. They spoke different languages, had different customs, and in some cases were even antagonistic towards one another. The story you've shared here is fascinating, but not surprising. Black people have never been a monolith - the founders of this country turned them into one.
